Cupping is used to promote circulation and elimination of toxins through the skin and Lymphatic System. Through the use of circular cups, the body's pores are opened and toxins are drawn from the body.

A patient lies on a table; chest down while the back is exposed. Circular cups are placed on the back. Several cups are applied and left on the back for up to 20 minutes. These cups create a vacuum effect, sucking up the skin beneath the glass creating a seal between the glass and skin. This vacuum effect increases the blood flow and circulation.

Although this practice is slightly uncomfortable creating a tight feeling on the back, it is generally painless and relaxing. The vacuum-sealed cups may be left stationary or may be skillfully rolled over the back area creating a pleasurable sensation.

Cupping is helpful with stiffness of the neck, back and shoulders, rheumatism, lung congestion and general circulation and creates an extreme calming effect throughout the entire body. It has been used for centuries to treat colds, diarrhea, headaches and abdominal pains. While the old technique required the use of fire, in our office we use a specialized pump to create the necessary suction. This technique can be used from infancy through to the Golden years.
